MONDAY OF THE FOURTH SUNDAY OF LENT -- The Healing Messiah

Readings Is 65:17-21; Ps 41; Jn 4:43-54

In the gospel of today, Jesus heals a small boy who is wrecked with fever just by speaking a word from a distance. The faith of the boy’s father who pleaded with Jesus is very outstanding. Do not forget to call on Jesus Christ to come when sickness and troubles strive to take your life away. Surely, by the power of his word, you shall be healed.

Humanity, ever since the fall of the Adam and Eve, has been under the iron grip of sickness and diseases. Christ came to heal the disease stricken humanity and to restore us back to the initial glory which we have lost. This glory is the vision Isaiah saw in the 1^st reading about “the new heavens and the new earth” that God will create at the end of time when there will be no more weeping, nor crying, nor sickness and disease.

PRAYER FOR THE SICK

OH GOD OF THE HEAVENLY VIRTUES, WHO FROM THE BODIES OF MEN DRIVEST FORTH ALL SICKNESS AND ALL INFIRMITY BY THE POWER OF THY WORD. DRAW GRACIOUSLY NIGH UNTO THESE THY SERVANTS WHO ARE SICK…(NAME). THAT WITH WEAKNESS PUT TO FLIGHT, HEALTH OF MIND AND BODY CONTINUALLY RENEWD, THEY MAY EVER BLESS THY HOLY NAME. AMEN. HEALTH OF THE SICK, PRAY FOR US.
